Internship Description

The different internships are as follows:

Ashoka Venture & Fellowship Intern

Ashoka Venture and Fellowship encompasses the search for and selection of social entrepreneurs who have the potential of becoming Ashoka Fellows. These Fellows have always been at the core of our mission and together, will be the engine that drives systemic social change forward.

Now you can join us in one of our most interesting and important endeavors -- finding and selecting the amazing innovators who could become Ashoka Fellows and help us supporting them through our Fellowship program.

Sample Internship Responsibilities 

  • Search for potential Ashoka Fellows through research, contact with nominators, presence at events, etc.

  • Help revise received applications with respect to Ashoka's selection criteria

  • Be present at individual interviews with candidates

  • Organize workshops and problem solving sessions for Ashoka Fellows

  • Monitor and analyse our Fellow´s impact through evaluation questionnaires

  • Help organize networking events like the induction of the newly elected Fellows


Ashoka's Finance Department

Your role will include undertaking an assessment akin to an internal audit of their accounting systems, processes and internal controls and make and implement recommendations for best practice. You will also help solidify Policies and Procedures manual that includes descriptions of accounting procedures and controls; help streamlining their processes for accounting for both US and Mexico accounting requirements.

Sample Internship Responsibilities

  • Assist with external events’ organisation

  • Follow up with partners in relation to the organisation of the meetings

  • Help with Financial reconciliation

  • Providing general administrative support as required

Ashoka's Communication Department

We are looking for a motivated Communications Support Officer. You will support a small, busy team, assisting the Communications Manager in delivering successful communications to a broad range of supporters, potential supporters and beneficiaries. You will be writing engaging copy for our website and other external communications, updating the website through Wordpress, and running the charity’s social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook. This position would suit someone who wants to gain experience in the third sector, international development, education and communications.

Key Specifications

  • Excellent copy writing skills, with the ability to adapt your voice according to your audience (essential)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience of working with Wordpress or similar CMS

  • Experience with social media especially Twitter and Facebook

  • The ability to be adaptable, to multi-task and take the initiative

  • An interest in international development 

Intern Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial ability

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to work in an unstructured, collaborative, creative office environment

  • Desire to cause systemic change

  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish

  • Profound qualitative analysis skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Great attention to detail
