    Beatriz Merino was the first female Prime Minister of Peru and the first female prime minister in Latin America. She held office between June 2003 and December 2003. She also served as Peru’s national ombudsman from September 2005 until March 2011. Before serving as Prime Minister, Ms. Merino served as Senator from 1990-1992 and Congresswoman from 1995-2000.
