Conectas Direitos Humanos

For more than 18 years, Conectas Direitos Humanos has existed to protect, realize, and enhance human rights. More than a non-governmental organisation, we are part of a lively and global movement that continues to fight for equal rights from a Global South perspective. Our three focus areas are:

  • Combating Institutional Violence

  • Strengthening Democratic Space and

  • Development and Socio-environmental Rights

Our multidisciplinary team uses a range of strategies to resist setbacks and promote human rights, including litigation, national and international advocacy, partnership building and public engagement. Conectas has had consultative status with the ECOSOC-UN since 2006, and observer status with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights since 2009.
