On January 18th, Ambassador Carol Perez, the U.S. envoy to Chile, hosted the Regional Office’s 15th Anniversary Celebration at her official residence in Santiago. Nearly 200 people, including alumni, friends, supporters, and leaders from academia, business, and government, attended the event. Ambassador Perez noted the importance of international engagement by universities and Brian Farrell spoke of the enormous opportunities such engagement means for scientific research. Executive Director, Marcela Rentería, gave a brief history of the Center and thanked the many friends and supporters who have made Harvard’s presence in the region a success. As a gift ad token of appreciation to DRCLAS, Paula Molina, renowned Chilean journalist and Harvard Nieman Fellow 2012, announced the publication of "15 Years of Harvard in Chile", an e-book highlighting Harvard's presence in Chile over the past years.
