Brazil approved in 2017 two major education policies: Base Nacional Comum Curricular and Educação Conectada ("National Learning Standards" and "Connected Education"). In this talk, we intend to discuss the potential and challenges of these new policies to reduce education inequalities across the country.

Camila Pereira is the Education Policy Director at the Lemann Foundation, an organization focused on ensuring that all Brazilian children can have a high quality public education. In her position, Camila leads the Foundation’s efforts to support the design and implementation of effective educational policies, working closely with key decision makers in the country. She holds a BA in journalism and has recently spent a year as a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, working on the topic of Structural Reforms in Public Education.
