Kai Thaler is Assistant Professor of Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Fellow at the Sie Cheou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy at the University of Denver's Josef Korbel School of International Studies. He is the author of the 2017 article "Nicaragua: A Return to Caudillismo" in the Journal of Democracy, and his commentary on Nicaragua has been carried by outlets including the BBC, France24, and the Washington Post. He received his PhD in Government from Harvard University.
