Location:

CGIS South, Room S216

Join our info session to learn about the Puerto Rico Winter Institute (PRWI), held during January 2023 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the theme "Entre la tierra y el mar: Agricultura, pesca y cambio climático."

PRWI is a two-week seminar in collaboration with the College of Humanities at the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras (UPR) comprised of twelve students (6 from Harvard and 6 from UPR). The 2023 themes explored in this collaborative seminar will focus on the challenges Puerto Rico faces in their agriculture and fishing industry due to climate change and its impact on food sovereignty, sustainability and culture. The program will combine an academic seminar with site visits to established projects and their communities. Connections between ecology, culture, law, and economic development, among others will be addressed in conversations with entrepreneurs, academics and community leaders.

Students from all Harvard schools with interest on the region and topic, and who are fluent in Spanish, are encouraged to participate in this session and consider applying!
