The talk discusses the career of the Brazilian androgynous group called Dzi Croquettes and the threat they posed to the Brazilian dictatorship.

Benito Bisso Schmidt was born in Cruz Alta, in southern Brazil, in 1970. He has been a professor at the History Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) since 1994. He received his PhD at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) between 1998 and 2002. In 2015, he was a visiting professor at the Institute for Latin American Studies in Paris and was invited professor at Emory University with a Fulbright scholarship last year. Currently,he is taking a sabbatical year at Brown University.
