International perspectives for a better Constitution. After the election of its 155 members, the Chilean Constitutional Convention will meet at Pereira Palace to elect the Convention's Chairman and Vice-Chairman, followed by the creation of the Convention's own "regulations" which must be approved by 2/3 of the members, that is, the provisions and internal proceedings that will rule its operations. Political and social stakeholders are already discussing crucial and controversial issues such as the transparency or secrecy of debates; ways to promote civic involvement and participation; the relationship between the Convention’s various committees and its plenary, and its applicable voting mechanisms. The devil is in the details; therefore, these proceedings will have a great impact on both how Chile’s new constitution is written and the substance of its provisions.

---------------
