We invite proposals from faculty planning to submit applications for external funding – either for programmatic initiatives or for specific research projects – whose applications would be strengthened by demonstrating an institutional commitment from Harvard. Examples of activities that the Program could support include workshops, invited speakers, etc. Applicants to other funding categories may use support of the Brazil Studies program to help win major external grants. The “Matching Funds” category is intended specifically for this purpose. These funds are made possible by funding from the Lemann Endowment.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must be an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor employed full-time by Harvard University in any Harvard Department or School.
The maximum award available is $10,000. Grants must be used by June 30, 2021. With adequate justification, the period of performance can be extended to accommodate proposals spanning multiple fiscal years.
How to Apply?
Applications should include:
- A proposal of up to 1500 words;
- Short research profiles or vitae of anticipated participants; and
- A detailed budget.
Application materials should be sent in a single email to Tiago Genoveze (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the subject "Application to BSP Funding - Matching Funds".
Deadline: March 8, 2020. All applications will be peer reviewed.
All grant recipients will be asked, as a condition of their acceptance of the award, to submit a follow-up report describing their outcomes and the expenses associated with their project. All recipients must notify the Brazil Studies program of other funding they receive for the same project. Awards will be adjusted in cases of duplicate funding for the same items. Any materials produced in relation to awarded projects must acknowledge the support of the Lemann Endowment, through the Matching Funds for External Gran Applications of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies as sponsors in all related materials.
