Project: The Association between Chronic Non-communicable Diseases, Race & Genetic Factors in Brazil: Dissecting Social Disparities & Biology in Cardiovascular Disease
Alexandre C Pereira, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the University of Sao Paulo Medical School and Director of the Human Genetics group of the Laboratory of Genetics & Molecular Cardiology at the Heart Institute (InCor). He is an affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Science. Dr. Pereira received his MD and PhD in Cardiology from the University of Sao Paulo Medical School. Since 1994 he has been at the University of Sao Paulo and his research has focused on the genetics of cardiovascular diseases. He has authored or co-authored over 100 original research reports. He is one of the Principal Investigators of the Corações de Baependi Project and has actively participated in the study design and analysis.
