Donald Pfister’s research interest center on the classification and relationships among several groups the fungi. A particular focus is on the fungi found in the Nothofagaceae forests of temperate South America. Our group studies taxonomy, biogeography and molecular phylogenetics of fungi generally referred to as discomycetes or cup-fungi. We have conducted fieldwork in Chile and Argentina and have developed collaborations with scientists in both countries.
