Eduardo Undurraga is an Associate Professor at the School of Government, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a researcher at the Initiative for Collaborative Research in Bacterial Resistance (MICROB-R), and at the Research Center for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (CIGIDEN), Chile, and a CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar (2021-2023). Originally trained as a civil engineer and later as a social scientist, Eduardo obtained a PhD in social policy from Brandeis University with a Fulbright scholarship. He was a Steven M. Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness Fellow at the US CDC.

Eduardo’s research focuses on the interaction between the social sciences and human health, particularly related to infectious diseases. He uses quantitative tools to understand the local, national, and global-level factors that affect population health and wellbeing and assess programs and interventions. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including journals such as Nature and the NEJM. His research has recently focused on the effects of Covid-19 in Latin America.
