Jimena’s role as a Program Manager involves both student and faculty-facing programs at DRCLAS.  Jimena manages the Andes & Southern Cone Program and the Cuba Studies Program. She will also work with the student services team on a variety of activities, such as student group grants and programming abroad.

Originally from Havana, Cuba, Jimena earned an MA in Latin American Studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, and completed a thesis on Visual Arts and Migration. She was the first Cuba-based student awarded a full scholarship at Tulane, where she also provided research assistance to faculty and held administrative positions at the Roger Thayer Stone Center for Latin American Studies and in the Political Science Department. Prior to coming to the US, Jimena worked in public relations at the Estudio Carlos Garaicoa (Havana and Madrid). Jimena came to Harvard in early 2020 from Tufts University where she worked for over two years as Office Manager and Administrative Coordinator at the Department of Music/Granoff Music Center.

Consistent with her academic background and her professional experience in the arts, Jimena is interested in bridging the worlds of higher education and social and cultural institutions between Latin America and the United States.
