Joyce Bennet

Joyce Bennett is an assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology at Connecticut College. Her research examines questions related to migration, intersectional identity, and ethnic revitalization. She earned her BA in American Studies and Music Performance from the University of Richmond and her MA and PhD in Anthropology from Tulane University. She is currently completing her book, Mobile Maya Women: Migration, Identity, and Gender in Highland Guatemala, an ethnography of how Kaqchikel Maya women reinforce ethnic identity post-migration through language and clothing. Her work has appeared in scholarly journals including Native American and Indigenous Studies, Journal of International Women’s Studies, Label Me Latino, and Universitas Psycológica.
