Julio Collado-Vides is an internationally recognized leader in genomic computational modeling responsible for the mathematical proof for the grammatical modeling of gene regulation. Dr. Collado-Vides is the Director of the Center
for Genomic Sciences, and was the founding President of the Mexican Society of Genomics
of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and pioneer of research and education
of bioinformatics and genomics in Latin America. Dr. Collado-Vides was also the principal investigator of the grant project that generated the first closed genome sequence of an organism generated in Mexico, Rhizobium etli.
