L. Marcela Gajardo
Project: Educational Reforms in Latin America. Achievements and Challenges
Marcela Gajardo is a Professor and Researcher in Chile. She holds an M.A. in Sociology from Essex University, England, and a graduate degree in Education from the Catholic University, Chile. She is the cofounder and former director of Plataforma Regional de Educación America Latina (PREAL) (1995-2013) and has conducted regional cooperation projects in the LAC Region and acted as an international senior consultant for UNESCO, OAS, IDRC, IDB and IICA Brazil, among others. Professor and Researcher at the Catholic University (PUC-Chile), FLACSO-Chile, Universidad Alberto Hurtado and Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile), she has also been a Visiting Professor at FLACSO and the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico. Author of several books and articles on education and development in the LAC Region, she is frequently invited as keynote speaker at international meetings in Europe, Asia and North America. Gajardo has served as a Board member and Chair for the Global Monitoring Report Team, OAS Inter-American Teacher Education Network and CIVICUS, World Alliance for Citizen Participation. She has also participated as an independent committee member in research reviews and advisory boards in the LAC Region and beyond.
