Mary Ellen Flather
Associate Director of Strategy and Development
Mary Ellen Flather joined DRCLAS in July 2016, after nearly two decades working in Washington DC. Her career has focused on strategic planning and development in higher education, agriculture and food security, micro-enterprise, entrepreneurship, and leadership development, predominantly in Latin America. Mary Ellen served as Director of Institutional Advancement for Zamorano, La Escuela Agricola Panamerica from 2004 - 2014, a US university located in rural Honduras. She also served at the InterAmerican Dialogue, TechnoServe Inc. and the World Bank as well as the International Potato Center (CIP) in Lima, Peru. She has enjoyed consulting for Junior Achievement Worldwide, USAID, and the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research. Mary Ellen worked in South and Central America, East Africa, and Thailand. She holds a BA in International Relations from Mary Washington College in Virginia and an MPS in International Agriculture and Rural Development from Cornell University. She has served on nonprofit boards and currently serves on the Pierian Foundation Board that supports the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra.
