Project: Betrayal in Argentina: The Falkland Islands’ Case or Chronicle of a Betrayal Foretold

Wenceslao Hernan Marcos Bunge, (Wences) is an Argentine businessman and Harvard Business School graduate (PMD). Intelligence services have described him as “the unofficial diplomatic representative” of Argentine Brigadier Basilio Lami - Dozo, junta member and commander in chief of the Argentine Air Force. On the eve of the 1982 Malvinas/Falklands War, Wenceslao was appointed to conduct back channel negotiations to prevent a war with the UK.  In 1979 he founded the Fundación del Hemisferio, dedicated to the advancement of bilateral issues between the United States and Argentina. Jointly with Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service he co-founded The Argentine - American Forum in 1980, conceived to promote a greater exchange and closer understanding of the two nations. He served as member of the International advisory board of Harvard University’s Center for International Affairs (CFIA). Active in the private sector, he represented the McDonnell Douglas Corporation; developed  the Argentine National Corporate Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP); was a World Bank consultant, and Director and Board member of OCASA (a national and International clearing house and package shipment corporation;) director and Board member of Vinos Argentinos S.A. (the international Argentine Wine conglomerate).
