The Brazil Studies Program in Cambridge and Brazil Office in São Paulo work in tandem to expand research, teaching and educational opportunities for Harvard faculty and students across the University. Most programmatic activities are collaborative in nature, seeking to connect Harvard experts and learners with counterparts in Brazil.

Nexo Políticas Públicas provides a platform for Harvard experts to disseminate their research and knowledge through a variety of formats, helping to bridge Harvard with Brazilian society.

Student Opportunities
January Programs
The Mentoring and Language Acquisition in Brazil (MLAB) program is a 4-month long, virtual mentoring program that will include virtual immersion activities in Brazil in January 2021. The Public Health Collaborative Field Course combines lectures, discussions, and site visits with group work on specific topics.

A wide range of programs for undergraduate and graduate students are offered during the summer, including the eight-week Summer Internship Program (SIP); Co-sponsored internships; and the new: Portuguese Summer School Program; and the Amazon Immersion.

Fellowships
Fellowships specific to Brazil are offered for students interested in professional exchange or purposeful travel experiences as well as for postdoctoral researchers working with Harvard faculty from Brazil. In addition, several fellowships awarded through the Committee on General Scholarships can support Brazilian students at Harvard, research on Brazil or travel to Brazil.

DRCLAS offers a variety of travel grants for summer research, conferences, and internships specific to Brazil. Additionally, grants are available for Harvard student groups working with a Harvard faculty member for publications, workshops, conferences, and/or events at Harvard University related to the region or Latinx populations in the United States.

LEMANN BRAZIL RESEARCH FUND
Administered by the Office of the Provost in collaboration with DRCLAS, the Lemann Brazil Research Fund (LBRF) is intended to foster collaboration between scholars and to support research projects focused on current issues facing Brazil.

DRCLAS Faculty Grants
The Faculty Grants program offer Harvard faculty funding support in a variety of capacities including individual and collaborative research, course-based field trips, curriculum development, research conferences, and more. Additionally the program seeks nominations for the annual Haddad Distinguished Lecture.
Support in Brazil
Since 2006, over 293 faculty members from across Harvard have traveled to Brazil. The Brazil Office has ample experience in assisting faculty to organize trips throughout the country, including for exploratory visits, individual or collaborative research, teaching, meetings and events of all scales.
Visiting Scholars
BECOME A VISITING SCHOLAR
This fellowship was endowed with a gift from Jorge Paulo Lemann and is available to scholars and practitioners from Brazil or those who are working on Brazilian topics.
Current Visiting Scholars
In the 2022-2023 academic year, DRCLAS will welcome 11 Visiting Scholars in a variety of disciplines including anthropology, literature, international relations, public policy, and visual culture.
