How can research contribute to the reduction of state violence and to the promotion of human rights and justice? This full day workshop will feature presentations from academic and community researchers about innovative participatory research projects on state violence in Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico. Panels and discussions will identify the distinctive challenges that state violence poses for the conduct of research, examine how research can contribute to the reduction of state violence and to the promotion of human rights and justice, and highlight strategies and methodologies used by researchers and activists to establish effective and enduring collaborative relationships and research projects.

This event is part of the What Justice Looks Like Series, a discussion series centering the voices of grassroots activists and affected communities in policy making, and is co-sponsored by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies and Tufts University.
